The International Telecommunications Union (ITU)
Type approval of telecommunications equipment is an international practice recommended by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).
It means to approve the type of the equipment by investigating its conformity to authorized technical standards. Such investigation is performed by internationally recognized laboratories endorsed by the ITU.
It can be done also by the national authorities. After standards conformity approval the laboratory in question issues an Approval Certificate which is then confirmed by National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC).
Type Approval process ensures the safety of networks and conserves the consumers’ interests and the high quality of services.
